Lock Sounds

Lock Sounds replaces the chirp your 7X makes when you lock and unlock it. You'll find it on the Home page under Extras. Every trim can use it — unlike Stargate Studio, it needs no special hardware, just a USB stick in the car.

Zeekr supports custom sounds, but only from a USB drive and only in one exact format: 16-bit PCM WAV, 44.1 kHz, under 1 MB. Getting that right by hand is where most people give up. MyZeekr converts whatever you give it and writes the file to the stick for you.

Before you start

  1. 1Keep a USB stick in the port under the wireless charger. If you use Sentry Mode you already have one in there, and the same stick works.
  2. 2Install the MyZeekr Sounds app on your car's screen from the same download page as the other car apps.
  3. 3Pair it once: the car shows a QR code, you scan it in MyZeekr and approve. Typing your companion key works too.
  4. 4Right-hand-drive cars only. Zeekr hasn't enabled custom sounds on every market's software.

Adding a sound

  1. 1MyZeekr sounds are ours, made for this, and always work.
  2. 2More sounds is a catalogue of community sounds. Tap play to hear one, Add to put it on your list — we fetch and convert it for you.
  3. 3Add a sound takes anything already on your phone: a clip you recorded, something you downloaded, any format.
  4. 4Anything longer than five seconds is trimmed. Most lock sounds are one or two.
  5. 5You can keep ten sounds on the car at a time.

Getting it onto the car

Sounds move across while the MyZeekr Sounds app is open on your car's screen. The bar on the Lock Sounds page tells you whether the car is listening right now. You can build your list anywhere — in bed, at work — and send it next time you're in the car. Nothing is lost while you wait.

Then unplug the USB stick and plug it back in. The car only reads the drive when it's mounted, so without a replug it won't see the new file. That's the car's behaviour, not something we can work around.

Choosing it in the car

On the car's screen: Settings → Vehicle → Doors & Windows → Exterior Unlock/Lock Feedback. That setting must be on "Hazard lights + sound" — if it's on lights only, the list of sounds doesn't appear at all. An empty list is usually this, not a bad file. Pick your sound there; that screen belongs to Zeekr, so it's the one step we can't do for you.

Removing a sound

Delete it in MyZeekr and the car removes it from the stick by itself, usually within seconds. We only ever touch files we put there — your Sentry recordings, the dashcam folder and anything you copied on yourself are never deleted. Replug the stick once more for the change to take.

About your USB stick

We write into a folder called "Lock Status Tones" and remove only our own files. Even so, removable storage can fail: keep a copy of anything on that drive you'd rather not lose, and don't use a stick holding your only copy of something.

Where community sounds come from

They belong to the sites and creators that host them. MyZeekr doesn't own them, and the site is named on every card. If one ever fails to download, you can open its page, get it yourself, and bring it in with Add a sound.

The same text lives inside the app: open the menu (top-right) → How to use.
